February reads
I had planned to read more rom-coms after a tough month of reading Holocaust stories in January. I ended up reading a lot less this month. Although, I was lucky enough to read 5 star books for majority of this month. I’ve got a lot of Ireland/Irish-related books on the deck for my March reads!
Here are some reads from February:
It Happened One Summer [3/5]
The blurb described this book as a ‘Schitt’s Creek’ inspired rom-com. I was a fan of that show so naturally I picked up this read for February, seeing how it was perfect aligned for Valentine’s Day. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book, it was fun at some points and it even got really steamy too! Some parts did get dorky too, but it was a fun light read!
The Inheritance Games [5/5]
Young adult mystery/thriller read. I usually don’t go for the young adult genre but someone had suggested this book. They weren’t wrong, it was a fun and suspenseful read! I already requested the second book of the series from the library. It was fast paced and felt like I was playing a game of Clue, I had to figure out who/what happened.
Woke Up This Morning: The Definitive Oral History of The Sopranos [5/5]
This is the book for all Sopranos fans! I only discovered this show last year when I finally got HBO Max. I loved reading about behind the scenes stories, how the show came to be, how people were casted/who could’ve been selected, personal memories, etc. The book is layout in an interview style starring Michael Imperioli (Chris) or Steve Schirripa (Bobby). They have a podcast, many readers said they’ve heard the stories already from there. I suggest you read the book if you haven’t heard their podcast!
Through the Glass Ceiling to the Stars: The Story of the First American Woman to Command a Space Mission [5/5]
Aviation isn’t my thing, but I had to pick up this memoir by Eileen Collins. Collins had grew up in my hometown of Elmira, NY. It was a very interesting read, although it did get technical in some parts, but I didn’t find it dry. I already had a great respect for Eileen Collins but this book showed even more of her journey to her accomplishments. This book was very inspiring!
