Book Review: Foster
I was excited to spot a new book from Claire Keegan! She wrote the book, ‘Small Things Like These’. It was the perfect read around the holidays time last year. She writes amazing short stories! I also love how her books takes place in my most favorite country… Ireland.
Synopsis:
It is a hot summer in rural Ireland. A child is taken by her father to live with relatives on a farm, not knowing when or if she will be brought home again. In the Kinsellas’ house, she finds an affection and warmth she has not known and slowly, in their care, begins to blossom. But there is something unspoken in this new household—where everything is so well tended to—and this summer must soon come to an end.
Review:
I devoured the beautiful short story in one sitting - a heartwarming story of a couple fostering a little girl in rural Ireland. It grabbed my emotions when the girl appreciated the attention and affection she received from the foster parents. Her family weren’t the type to show affection. Keegan wrote this beautifully, the words came across poetically. I’m amazed that it was only 96 pages long but it was powerful enough to make an impact.
Foster will be released on November 1st.
Thank you Grove Atlantic and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
