Luxe Villa [Norwich, CT]
This blog has been archived. Luxe Villa has been sold and no longer is operating as an Airbnb rental.
The first weekend of February had been my birthday weekend so I went on a getaway to a brand new AirBnb listing located in Norwich, CT. I stayed at Luxe Villa, located on the grounds of the Spa at Norwich Inn. Luxe Villa is hosted by Rebecca, a good friend of mine! She works as a special education teacher and has the cutest Frenchie dog.
If you haven’t been to the Spa at Norwich Inn, there is the main building where spa services are offered. Next to the main building, there is a multi condo style complex (20 buildings) with 8 villas in each of them. The villas are in a private residential community, but some are rented out on Airbnb.
That is how I came across this Airbnb, which is perfectly centrally located near the casinos, spa and more. Luxe Villa has one bedroom in a loft style condo, comfortable for 2-3 people. Luxe Villa also has a living room (with a fireplace!!), small office set up, two full bathrooms and a kitchen. The villa was right across the street from Norwich Golf Club. Also one of two clubhouses was steps away, these have a fitness center and an outdoor pool (summers). Free on-site parking was available.
Luxe Villa has a private entrance so the check-in was very easy. I walked in, and was greeted with a “Happy Birthday” banner! How thoughtful of the host, Rebecca to do that for me! I excitedly toured the villa which had beautiful nautical decor through out. I also loved the navy blue couches in the living room which were so comfy!! The private balcony overlooked the golf course, which is currently covered in snow. Looking at you golfers, this is the spot to stay once spring gets here! The kitchen was completed with basic cooking supplies which is perfect for those who rather stay in. Being gluten free, it can be difficult to find restaurants sometimes it was a bonus to have a kitchen in case I needed to cook!
The living room space was my favorite part of the villa. It was very comfy and had a fireplace (which you do need to get permission first before using it). Right off the living room space was a desk where I was able to do some blog work. This is perfect for those who need to do some work while traveling. I enjoyed curling up on the couch reading a book and watching TV. It came with every subscription, I was excited to watch some episodes of the new HBO reboot of ‘Sex and the City’.
Earlier in the day, I explored The Spa at Norwich Inn. It offers massage, nail care services, facial treatments and more. There was also a wellness center, pool, sauna room, relaxation room, hair salon and two restaurants. The pool/wellness does require a fee to use the amenities if you didn’t get a spa package. I came back that evening to have a cup of soup and drinks at Ascot’s Pub, a cozy woodsy pub. The walls and floors were covered in wood, it gave off a rustic vibe with equestrian touches. The newly renovated Kensington’s is a fine-dining experience that only takes reservations. I didn’t get a chance to dine there but it was a beautiful setting! I enjoyed some complimentary coffee in the hallway out front of Kensington’s the next morning. The hallway felt very tropical, with beautiful views outside.
During the day, I drove a short 20 minutes over to Foxwoods Casino. I did some retail therapy at Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods. Some of my favorite shops included Tommy Hilfiger, Vineyard Vines, Loft, and Under Armour. After I shopped around, I went in the casino to do some gambling on the slot machines. What a fun time! As it was approaching dinner time, I popped in newly opened Mystic Market to check out their prepared food selection. There is so MANY to pick from, which was perfect as I could heat them up quickly in the kitchen at the villa! Unfortunately, they didn’t offer many gluten free options but I knew that my favorite pizza place is only minutes down the street from Luxe Villa.
Engine No 6 Pizza Co has the BEST gluten free pizza in Mystic County. I realized that I could call them for a delivery! It’s a luxury that I don’t have because I don’t live in any delivery range. So I made my way back to Luxe Villa and relaxed while I waited for the pizzas to arrive. They arrived promptly at the time they promised, and I scarfed down the pizza and breadsticks (also gluten free!!!). They bake everything with a dough that they make from scratch instead of those pre-made crusts. I love Engine No 6 so it was a bonus for Luxe Villa to be located nearby!
In the morning, I enjoyed some coffee at Kensington’s (at the Spa) then I headed out. I drove 10 minutes to Holmberg Orchards in Gales Ferry, CT. They have a farmers market there, selling baked goods, fruits & veggies, sauces, prepared meals, drinks and more. This would be another option for meals to bring back to the villa to heat up/cook/eat. I had to pick up a few favorites for my husband - apple crisp (the best!), biscottis and apples. If you come to stay at the villa during fall, be sure to come here for apple picking or wine tasting. Keep an eye out for their fun wine maze, a grown up corn maze adventure events!
I highly recommend you to check out Luxe Villa on the Airbnb listing and stay there! Even if you don’t do spa services, it’s a great central location to many other attractions. It’s only 5 minutes from Mohegan Sun casino. Rebecca complied a binder of recommendations from restaurants, places to see, etc. in the villa. I had a lot fun staying there, as it was very relaxing environment! The link to the listing is here.
Thank you again, Rebecca for being a superb host!
I partnered with her to share about my stay at Luxe Villa. All opinions are mine.
