Lent Friday Fish

I thought I’d share the BEST spots for Lent Fish Friday. I know… I know… there’s only like 2-3 Fridays left before Lent is over. I apologize that I didn’t think of this sooner! Better late than never and you also can save this for next year’s Lent!

• Portuguese Holy Ghost Society - 26 Main St. Stonington

Every Fridays during Lent from 11am to 7:30pm

Fish & Chips are $14, also offers scallop and shrimp dinners, $5 clam chowder.

It is suggested to call ahead for orders as it can get really busy there! It’s so worth it as their fish is really delicious!

• Mystic Fire Department - B.F. Hoxie Engine Co. 34 Broadway Ave Mystic

Every Fridays during Lent from 5-8pm

Fish & Chips are $12

You can *try* to call ahead for takeouts but they’re always so busy, so your best chance is to go there exactly at 5pm. The small parking lot gets pretty jammed. Everyone loves the fish here!

• J&R Seafood Market - 45 William Ave Mystic

Every Fridays from 11am-7pm

Fish & Chips are $17.95 (two piece of fish, fries, coleslaw, tarter sauce)

You can call ahead, order online or stop in. They also have meals & others (chowder, dips, salads, etc) available in the grab & go fridge.

I can’t say enough how delicious the fish is in Connecticut/New England! It’s probably just me appreciating it more, after growing up in rural Upstate NY. Having access to those fresh and delicious seafood wasn’t something I had until I moved here. Enjoy the Friday Fish dinners!

Note: Those fish are NOT gluten free to my knowledge. I used to dine with them before my gluten free diagnosis (and still think about how good they are!).
