The Book Nook [Mystic, CT]
UPDATE: This blog has been archived. The Book Nook has been sold and no longer is operating as an Airbnb rental.
Calling all the bookworms… there’s an Airbnb that is nested above Bank Square Books in the heart of Mystic, Connecticut! The Book Nook is an apartment with two bedrooms, one bath, living room, kitchen and laundry. The living room is very spacious complete with a reading corner and a workspace desk. This Airbnb can have up to 4 guests.
What I loved about staying at The Book Nook:
LOCATION. You can’t beat the location of this Airbnb! Right in Downtown Mystic, with a free parking spot! The Airbnb comes with one parking spot next to Bank Square Books. It’s so close to all the shops and restaurants. Downtown Mystic is very walkable area. I walked to dinner and dessert on the night that I checked into this Airbnb.
READING CORNERS. The Airbnb had many reading corners! Both of the bedrooms and the living room. There’s a chair in the living room with a reading lamp. This corner has a collection of books to pick from (there were so MANY that I wanted to read!).
SUNLIGHT. The check-in was at 3pm, I walked into the apartment with sunlight shining in every room. It was so bright and tranquil. There was also great morning sunlight, so this spot had good lighting for all of the reading spots (even on the floor!).
COZY BEDS. The beds were very plush and soft! It was another comfortable spot for reading. The windows overlooks the Main Street, so if noises would bother you - there were complimentary ear plugs and white noise machines!
WORKSPACE DESK. Perfect for writers! I spent some time at the desk writing some of my articles. I also loved the bookish decor (book shaped vases) on the desk so much that I have added them to my wishlist! A quiet space to work. Another reason why this location is awesome… I loved the proximity to Sift Bake Shop when I wanted a break from writing to get some tea or a treat!
AMENTIES. This apartment offered laundry and a fully equipped kitchen. If you’re not in the mood to go out to eat or have food allergies… you can cook your entire meal right there in the apartment. The kitchen is a very cozy space too, with a table and four chairs to sit and eat. If you’re traveling with non-readers, there’s TV in the apartment for them to watch!
BOOKSTORE. This definitely was the best part of this Airbnb. You can go right downstairs and start book shopping. Of course, only during store hours (we all wish we could have the bookstore to ourselves, right?). The apartment has a completely separated and private entrance from the bookstore. It was so fun being that close to my favorite location!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Book Nook. It’s a dream come true for my bookworm heart! As I mentioned there were many books available through the apartment that I wanted to read, so that’s what I did. I binge read the first 3 chapters of 5-6 books and decide which ones I was most interested in. I ended up glued to the upcoming novel Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane (yes, I stayed up late!).
In the morning, I woke up at sunrise and went for a photography walk along Mystic River. When I came back, I tried to finish that book. Unfortunately I didn’t have time before my 11am check out! With Bank Square Books being right downstairs, I could’ve bought a copy to continue at home but I’ll have to wait two weeks for its release! You can place preorders with Bank Square Books too.
The Book Nook is newly listed as of January 2023. It’s been a popular stay, even some authors have stayed here. I recognized some familiar names in the guestbook! It’s also very affordable for the area. The Book Nook was very cozy, perfect space for reading and writing/working. Don’t wait because there’s already limited available dates to stay at The Book Nook!
Annie, the owner of Bank Square Books was very kind to gift me a night stay at The Book Nook. Thank you, Annie and Stephanie [the marketing coordinator]. All opinions are my own.
